What Is Baby Rib Knitting?
Baby rib is a fine rib-knit construction.
Rib knitting is created by alternating knit and purl stitches, forming vertical channels in the fabric. You’ve seen rib knitting before in hoodie cuffs and waistbands that are stretchy.
Baby rib uses that same structure, but with tighter, finer ribs.
What that does:
✦ Increases horizontal stretch
✦ Improves recovery (it snaps back instead of sagging)
✦ Adds gentle structure
✦ Helps the garment contour naturally
Unlike basic flat jersey tees, rib knit has built-in elasticity from its knit structure — not just from added stretch fibers.
That’s why this top hugs slightly without feeling stiff.
Why Rib Matters for a Crop?
Cropped silhouettes need shape control.
If you use thin jersey fabric in a fitted crop, it can wrinkle, roll, or stretch out over time.
Rib knit adds:

How to Measure
Lay a similar garment flat on a table.
- Width (Chest) - Measure straight across from armpit to armpit.
- Length - Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (HPS) to the bottom hem.
- Sleeve (Hoodies) - Measure from center back of neck to end of sleeve.
For best results, compare measurements to a garment you already own and like the fit of.
