What Is 420g Fabric?
Fabric density is measured in GSM — grams per square meter. GSM tells you how much one square meter of fabric weighs. It is the industry standard for measuring thickness.
If a fabric is 420 GSM, that means one square meter weighs 420 grams.
Higher GSM = denser, heavier fabric.
Lower GSM = lighter, more breathable fabric.
For perspective:
✦ Lightweight tees: 120–180 GSM
✦ Standard hoodies: 240–300 GSM
✦ Heavyweight hoodies: 320–400 GSM
✦ This hoodie: 420 GSM
This sits above typical heavyweight territory. It feels structured. It holds shape. It does not drape like a sad napkin.
How to Measure
Lay a similar garment flat on a table.
- Width (Chest) - Measure straight across from armpit to armpit.
- Length - Measure from the highest point of the shoulder (HPS) to the bottom hem.
- Sleeve (Hoodies) - Measure from center back of neck to end of sleeve.
For best results, compare measurements to a garment you already own and like the fit of.
